Software Engineer - Audio

Backend Developer • On-site • Full-time • 📍 Stockholm

Own the audio side of gameplay within Embark's small, tight-knit audio team, taking real ownership and driving solutions forward in Unreal Engine (C++, Blueprints, AngelScript).

Responsibilities

  • Implement and iterate on audio gameplay systems
  • Build tools and integrations that help the audio team work faster and more creatively
  • Identify and fix issues across the full audio pipeline, from authoring to in-game playback
  • Explore emerging approaches to game audio, including AI-assisted systems, generative audio, and dynamic commentary
  • Collaborate across disciplines to make sure sound enhances every part of the player experience

Requirements

  • Solid experience in game development, with a strong understanding of how audio fits into the full gameplay loop
  • Strong C++ skills and a methodical approach to systems programming
  • An educational background in engineering or computer science, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • A genuine passion for game audio
  • The ability to work independently and own your work end to end

Nice to have

  • Experience with Unreal Engine and its audio systems
  • Ideas or hands-on experience with AI audio: third-party voice generation, dynamic NPC commentary, or procedural sound systems
