Responsibilities

• ▹Develop and maintain the agency's internal SQL Server database environment
• ▹Handle installations, upgrades and other change work
• ▹Install, upgrade, configure and test the systems you are responsible for
• ▹Incident handling, troubleshooting and fault correction
• ▹System administration and monitoring where needed to ensure performance requirements
• ▹Work with IT architects, system technicians, end users and suppliers
• ▹Take part in procurements
• ▹Produce and maintain instructions, routines and system descriptions
• ▹Help protect the IT infrastructure and its information

Requirements

• ▹Relevant higher education or equivalent knowledge and experience
• ▹Several years of experience operating, configuring and developing MS SQL Server database environments
• ▹Knowledge of SQL Server security features such as encryption, auditing and RBAC
• ▹Performance tuning: index optimisation, wait statistics, execution plans and Query Store
• ▹Clustering technologies such as FCI and AOAG
• ▹Backup and restore at SQL Server level and related features such as log shipping
• ▹Microsoft server and client environments and Active Directory
• ▹Scripting skills, for example PowerShell

Nice to have

• ▹Scripting and programming experience related to SQL Server
• ▹Experience administering and automating large database environments
• ▹Experience with integrations such as ETL/ELT flows
• ▹Experience from the public sector
