Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Card)

Responsibilities

• ▹Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale
• ▹Act as the lead software engineer for all cards in the EU
• ▹Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical sustainability and risk
• ▹Ensure the team's operational readiness and availability through monitoring, on-call rotations, playbooks, and alerting
• ▹Set code review and design standards and advocate for them
• ▹Develop team talent through feedback and mentorship

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of total software engineering experience
• ▹Proficiency designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• ▹Proficiency developing front-end applications
• ▹Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through a defined technical and execution plan
• ▹Comfort moving from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture in ambiguous situations
• ▹Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with a global engineering team
