Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Acquisition)

Responsibilities

• ▹Own and deliver the team's quarterly goals
• ▹Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, ensuring everyone is supported throughout delivery
• ▹Collaborate with product management, design and analytics, participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that weigh risks and trade-offs
• ▹Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them
• ▹Own the team's operations and availability: monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerting, and on-call efforts
• ▹Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them through writing and tech talks
• ▹Develop talent on the team through feedback, guidance and leading by example
• ▹Participate in an on-call rotation as part of the role

Requirements

• ▹4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin
• ▹Track record developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
• ▹Experience defining a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design
• ▹Writes high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others
• ▹Proficient at making significant, safe changes in a large codebase, with tools and practices developed to support this
• ▹Takes ownership of own growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager and stakeholders
• ▹Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting collaboration with a global engineering team
• ▹Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience
