Software Engineer, Sustaining Engineering

Canonical (Ubuntu) is hiring a Software Engineer for its Sustaining Engineering team to fix bugs and resolve customer issues across the full open-source Linux stack, from bare metal to Kubernetes. The role involves continuous troubleshooting and upstream community collaboration, fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Resolve issues in Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes
  • ▹Develop upstream bug fixes and backport patches
  • ▹Review code produced by other engineers
  • ▹Work closely with Support and Product Engineering teams
  • ▹Participate in upstream open-source communities

Requirements

  • ▹Professional software engineering experience
  • ▹Background in Computer Science or STEM
  • ▹Strong Linux experience
  • ▹Experience with at least one of Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes
  • ▹Development experience with Python, Go, or C
