Responsibilities

• ▹Lead and scale the engineering team during Runway's critical growth phase
• ▹Hire exceptional engineers and establish engineering excellence
• ▹Set technical direction alongside the founders
• ▹Unblock the team and foster a culture where people do the best work of their careers
• ▹Be hands-on enough to make architectural decisions when needed
• ▹Spend most of your time multiplying the impact of others rather than only doing individual work

Requirements

• ▹Demonstrated success building engineering teams at high-growth startups (Series A through growth stage)
• ▹Track record of improving team output: shipping cadence (especially through AI), rare incidents, hiring velocity
• ▹Experience building a culture of high standards where engineers are proud of what they ship
• ▹Strong full-stack engineering background enabling you to be the architectural tie-breaker when needed
• ▹Track record of guiding teams to strong technical outcomes

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with Runway's stack: React/TypeScript + Go
• ▹Data engineering background
• ▹Founder experience (YC or equivalent) with firsthand zero-to-one experience
• ▹Fintech, SaaS, or B2B software background
• ▹Passion for making complex financial concepts accessible to non-finance users
