Senior Embedded NPU Software Engineer

Senior Embedded NPU Software Engineer role covering architecture, design, verification and performance analysis for Digital Signal Processor (DSP) development for Qualcomm's Mobile, Machine Learning, Automotive and IoT products. The role determines processor architecture, micro-architecture, logic design, verification, and all performance and power aspects, including custom instruction sets for machine learning and modem workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop small, well-defined blocks, features and tests, and assist with more complex ones under minor supervision
  • Independently identify and resolve architecture and design issues across multiple systems or subsystems
  • Collaborate and gather feedback during design reviews to ensure blocks meet specification, performance and power requirements
  • Investigate issues to prevent future recurrence
  • Track industry trends, competitor products and advances in DSP and machine learning technology
  • Collaborate with team members to generate new ideas
  • Communicate effectively with peers and leads, and document issues, features and design changes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering experience (or Master's + 1 year, or PhD)
  • 2+ years of experience with high-performance microprocessor design

Nice to have

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years of programming experience (C, C++, Python), computer architecture or embedded systems
  • 2+ years of experience in design verification methods
  • 1+ year of experience working in a large matrixed organization

What we offer

  • Pay range: $127,200–$190,800 per year (broad, location-based scale)
