Java Developer – WCS Modernization

Responsibilities

• ▹Contributing to the modernization of the WCS software, migrating existing legacy functionality into a modern Java-based architecture
• ▹Analyzing existing logic, data models, triggers, packages, functions and workflows, and transforming them into understandable, maintainable Java structures together with experienced colleagues
• ▹Developing new WCS functionality with a focus on Java, a modern development environment and clean architecture
• ▹Working with IntelliJ, Git, build tools and modern development processes
• ▹Using jOOQ to map database-related logic into Java in a controlled, type-safe and traceable way
• ▹Developing and optimizing database access, understanding how data model, SQL, transactions and performance affect WCS logic
• ▹Contributing to the gradual replacement of existing PL/SQL components, making implicit business logic visible, testable and maintainable
• ▹Working closely with software architects, experienced WCS developers, project teams and system integration
• ▹Supporting error analysis, reproduction and resolution in existing and new WCS components
• ▹Actively contributing to technical concepts, code reviews, tests and the ongoing development of the architecture

Requirements

• ▹Completed education in software development, computer science or software engineering (e.g. university of applied sciences, technical university) or comparable qualification
• ▹Ideally 2-3 years of professional experience in software development
• ▹Good knowledge of Java and a practical understanding of object-oriented development
• ▹Good understanding of relational databases and SQL
• ▹Enjoys working in a team, asking questions, thinking along, and making software better and clearer
• ▹German and English language skills for daily collaboration with colleagues, projects and international stakeholders

Nice to have

• ▹More years of software development experience beyond 2-3 years are welcome
• ▹Experience with Oracle, PL/SQL or database-related business logic
• ▹Experience with jOOQ, IntelliJ, Git, Maven/Jenkins or similar tools
