Engineering Manager - Staff Tools

In H&M Group's Retail Staff Tools area in Stockholm, you build high-performing engineering teams and develop AI-enabled digital tools for 100,000 store colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Lead the development of new products and AI-enabled experiences that make daily work simpler for store colleagues
  • ▹Change how teams build software by putting AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices into real use, learning from the results and establishing what good looks like
  • ▹Partner closely with Product Managers, designers and stakeholders to shape product direction and outcomes
  • ▹Raise the engineering bar across architecture, security, observability and operational ownership
  • ▹Help teams make pragmatic technology decisions across modern product architecture, data, integrations and build-versus-buy choices
  • ▹Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching, hiring and clear expectations

Requirements

  • ▹Hands-on software engineering background, staying close to modern engineering practices
  • ▹Previous experience as an Engineering Manager with delivery and people responsibility
  • ▹Understanding of the importance of architecture, security, observability and operational ownership
  • ▹Experience building and evolving digital products and platforms in modern product organizations
  • ▹Comfortable leading through change and turning ideas into working solutions in areas without a well-defined blueprint
  • ▹Practical experience using AI-assisted software development
  • ▹Practical experience building and bringing AI-enabled products or capabilities into real-world use

  • ▹Experience with SaaS platforms, integrations and build-versus-buy decisions
  • ▹Experience building colleague-facing, consumer-facing, mobile or frontend products

  • ▹Retail, Workforce Management or store operations experience
