Product Manager - Security

Security Engineer • Lead • On-site • Full-time • 📍 Home based - EMEA

Canonical is opening a general application track for product management positions focused on security, where product managers are technologists passionate about delivering products that shape market demands while elevating open source software. The successful candidate sets a clear vision, prioritizes work effectively and ensures the team delivers high-quality products that meet business and user needs. During the interview process Canonical identifies specific software products matching the candidate's interests, across domains such as Ubuntu Platform, Ubuntu Pro, AI/ML, IoT, Cloud, Telco, Finance and Automotive. These roles are home-based in the EMEA time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product development lifecycle and review priorities and goals for the product
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing and sales
  • Align on priorities, enable informed decisions and keep business execution on track
  • Conduct market research, analyse industry trends and gather customer feedback
  • Communicate the product vision, status updates and key decisions
  • Conduct usability testing, analyse user feedback and iterate on the product
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, create product documentation and provide training
  • Contribute to the sales team's success and oversee a product line for consistency

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic results at high school and university
  • Understanding of Linux and the wider open source software community
  • Understanding of computer architecture, application development, datacenters, cloud or devices
  • Passion to write about technologies and the tech landscape
  • A strong work ethic and personal interests aligned with the open source movement
  • Curiosity and the habit of continuous learning
  • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to innovate
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • For senior positions, product management experience in the software industry
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for events up to two weeks long

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with a particular vertical (e.g. Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive)
  • Familiarity with the technology ecosystem including Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs and cloud service providers
  • Familiarity with cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker containers and Snaps
  • Familiarity with embedded and connected device technology
  • Familiarity with networking technologies (ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, firewalling, OVN/OVS, VPNs, SR-IOV, InfiniBand)
  • Familiarity with telco networking (RAN, Core, CPE)
  • Experience leading distributed teams across time zones
