Canonical is hiring Engineering Managers for the Commercial Systems unit, which consists of six teams delivering internal products at the heart of Canonical's business. Teams include Billing and Business Systems (NetSuite, Salesforce), Data Governance (Trino, Ranger, data mesh) and Livepatch (Golang live Linux kernel patching). The manager is accountable for the design and development of an internal product. The role is fully remote and based in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Be accountable for the design and development of an internal product
  • ▹Lead and develop a software engineering team and direct reports
  • ▹Collaborate closely with other engineering and business teams
  • ▹Maintain high engineering quality standards and drive delivery
  • ▹Implement business processes and keep systems compliant (Business Systems team)
  • ▹Continuously develop own and team members' skills

Requirements

  • ▹Software engineering management experience
  • ▹High engineering quality standards and drive to deliver
  • ▹Ability to develop direct reports' skills
  • ▹Accountability for product development

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience with Golang services (Billing, Livepatch teams)
  • ▹Familiarity with NetSuite and Salesforce (Business Systems team)
  • ▹Experience with data governance tools such as Trino and Ranger
  • ▹Interest in billing/payment, business systems or security domains
