Software Engineer Level II (Java/Angular)

Software Engineer • Remote • Full-time European Union Bonifacio Global City, EU/EMEA

A Software Engineer position on a night shift, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions. The role involves analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and support, working independently on moderately complex projects under general direction.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Agile Program Manager, Digital Product Manager, and Business Systems Analyst to translate stakeholder requests and system specifications into engineering artifacts (design specifications, source code, test scripts and results)
  • Coordinate with software architects and Software Engineer IVs to ensure engineering realization follows Enterprise Architecture principles and best practices
  • Complete software development work as part of Agile teams: application design, coding, code review, and testing; keep the Agile team and APM apprised of project status
  • Offer suggestions to stakeholders on effective and efficient approaches to achieve project and program objectives
  • Manage engineering risks by proactively tracking and communicating issues and devising mitigation methods
  • Liaise with other project and program areas to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues
  • Support business units in resolving in-depth user questions and issues following production support process and SLAs
  • Maintain working knowledge of new technology and software engineering standards, practices, and tools
  • Provide input to the APM/DPM for creating the Product Roadmap and High-Level Estimates
  • Collaborate with IT management to define documentation and engineering artifact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates

Requirements

  • Development experience with Java, SQL, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, CSS
  • Experience with scalable, high-availability back-end database technologies, primarily SQL Server
  • Experience building microservices with Spring Boot, as well as building and calling APIs
  • Front-end development experience: HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, accessibility, responsive layouts, UI/UX development
  • Experience with Insurance/Reinsurance systems and data
  • Strong understanding of server-side software, scalability, performance, and reliability

Nice to have

  • Experience with non-relational database technologies such as Memcached, MongoDB, Redis
