Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

Platform Engineer • Senior • Remote • Full-time Germany Germany

Build and operate scalable API platforms at Polarise, establishing cloud-native infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to support product and development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate platforms for scalable APIs
  • Standardize and automate infrastructure, deployment, and operations processes
  • Design, implement, and optimize cloud-native platform solutions based on Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Build and operate modern CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
  • Develop in-house platform tooling and internal services/APIs in Go, Python, or Rust
  • Evolve API infrastructure including API gateways, authentication and authorization concepts
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability through monitoring, logging, and tracing
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to improve developer experience via standardized platform services and self-service offerings
  • Support modern security concepts such as Zero Trust, secrets management, and network segmentation

Requirements

  • Experience building and operating production cloud and container platforms, ideally with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
  • Experience with API gateways and common API standards (REST, gRPC, GraphQL, OpenAPI)
  • Knowledge of modern authentication and security practices (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS)
  • Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and automation with tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD
  • Solid programming skills in at least one backend language (Go, Python, or Rust)
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Practical experience with SRE, incident management, scaling, and performance optimization
  • Understanding of networking, load balancing, DNS, and modern security architectures
  • Very good German and English skills
  • Residence in Germany with a valid work permit
