Senior Data Engineer, Simulation & Synthetic (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

• ▹Construct and expand rich, realistic simulation environments for autonomous off-road vehicles
• ▹Generate high-fidelity synthetic sensor data (camera, LiDAR) to train perception algorithms
• ▹Craft complex virtual scenarios (dense forests, rugged terrain, adverse weather) to push systems to their limits
• ▹Develop sophisticated data augmentation and domain randomization pipelines for model robustness
• ▹Implement and refine Sim2Real strategies bridging virtual testing and real-world performance
• ▹Integrate simulation modules with the ROS/ROS2-based robotics software stack
• ▹Collaborate with AI and robotics teams to enhance synthetic data quality and accelerate model development

Requirements

• ▹Strong proficiency in Python or C++ with hands-on ROS2 experience
• ▹Proven experience developing simulation environments (e.g. Unity) with a computer graphics foundation
• ▹Deep familiarity with camera and LiDAR sensors and synthetic data generation for them
• ▹Strong understanding of Sim2Real methodologies and the challenges of sim-to-real model transfer
• ▹Collaborative, proactive, results-oriented approach to solving complex technical challenges

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow)
• ▹Knowledge of sensor fusion techniques
