Senior Data Scientist with Leadership Responsibility – Remote or Karlsruhe

Responsibilities

• ▹Hands-on data analysis and data science: analyze complex data using data mining, clustering, forecasting or recommendation classification
• ▹Ensure data correctness across systems and establish best practices such as code reviews and documentation
• ▹Enable data-driven decisions: present results clearly and derive concrete strategic measures, working closely with product management, community management and management
• ▹Combine quantitative analysis with qualitative community feedback
• ▹Take on professional and eventually disciplinary leadership of a small team, develop colleagues and build up the area
• ▹Define the long-term data strategy with management and establish a real data culture

Requirements

• ▹Completed degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or a comparable qualification
• ▹Business understanding: you can explain data and turn it into practical value
• ▹Communication strength: explain complex relationships clearly to non-technical people
• ▹Leadership potential: willingness to take responsibility as mentor, project lead or through professional guidance (formal leadership experience is a plus, not a must)
• ▹Analytical strength, quick grasp and a structured way of working
• ▹AI mindset: you see AI (e.g. LLMs, copilots) as an integral part of modern work and use such tools routinely
• ▹Strong SQL and Python skills (pandas, sklearn)
• ▹Experience with statistical analysis and databases, and with Excel/Google Sheets
• ▹Solid machine learning knowledge (forecasting, clustering, categorization) and deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• ▹Fluent German (at least C1) and English

Nice to have

• ▹Knowledge of Java and Mixpanel
