Senior Systems Engineer - Business Applications

In BWI's Business Applications department, the digitalisation partner of the Bundeswehr, you provide 2nd level support and automated operation of LAMP platforms and applications in a Kubernetes, CI/CD and Linux environment. Full-time in Berlin, Strausberg or Munich, or at any BWI site in Germany.

Responsibilities

  • ▹2nd level support for LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) platforms and applications in the company's own cloud
  • ▹Contribute to the automated provisioning of platform components through CI/CD
  • ▹Create, test and implement container builds
  • ▹Handle incidents according to BWI specifications (incident intake, fault analysis, fault resolution)
  • ▹Identify risks and secure against and resolve security risks
  • ▹Contribute to the development of training concepts
  • ▹Maintain and further develop the technical documentation

Requirements

  • ▹Experience with one or more of the following technologies: web servers (Apache, NGINX), Linux operating systems (e.g. CentOS, SuSE, RHEL, Debian), databases (e.g. MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL), LAMP-based applications
  • ▹Good knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native concepts
  • ▹Knowledge of application deployments as code via Helm charts, kustomize and k8s operators
  • ▹Experience with automation tools (e.g. GitLab-CI, Terraform, Crossplane, Ansible, ArgoCD and FluxCD)
  • ▹Experience with container builds (e.g. Docker, Buildah) and artifact management (Nexus, Harbor)
  • ▹Familiarity with monitoring, logging and alerting stacks (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Instana)
  • ▹Experience with scaling and resource optimisation in container-based environments, as well as Git/GitOps
  • ▹Basic understanding of TCP networks such as firewalling, network structure and security
  • ▹Experience with CMDB/asset management systems
  • ▹Basic ITIL knowledge (change/incident/problem management)
  • ▹Fluent German and good English
