Boiler Service Engineer

IT Support / Helpdesk • Remote • Full-time European Union EU/EMEA

GE Steam Power is looking for a field service engineer to perform preventive maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and repairs on customer steam boilers and associated equipment in the US and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Handle field service assignments adapting to varying customer facility conditions, operating within estimated resources while ensuring quality
  • Take decisive action on complex technical matters to minimize adverse impact and operate within budget
  • Communicate with management and other employees about work activities
  • Work in a team, receiving and incorporating feedback into customer support and reporting
  • Adjust to revised priorities and unforeseen problems at customer facilities
  • Handle considerable travel and/or temporarily residing at customer sites, being on call
  • Work independently to provide advice and guidance on commissioning, operation, maintenance, efficiency and reliability of fossil-fired steam generator equipment and systems
  • Manage time to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Write strong technical reports, describing complex issues concisely and developing recommendations
  • Act as the company's representative in resolving and reporting complex technical and logistics problems
  • Learn and demonstrate technical competency in maintenance and operations of equipment including boilers, pulverizers and auxiliary components
  • Conduct and manage inspections, performance testing, projects and write detailed reports

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel extensively and/or temporarily reside at customer sites
  • Ability to work independently in a demanding role with an uncertain schedule
  • Strong technical writing skills
