Machine Learning Engineer (80-100%)

Responsibilities

• ▹Translate business requirements into tailored AI solutions
• ▹Implement and integrate ML algorithms, third-party models and API-based services into the cloud-based AI in a Box platform
• ▹Research and validate state-of-the-art solutions for a variety of tasks, such as image preprocessing, document recognition or natural language processing
• ▹Own the entire lifecycle of an ML project: research and prototyping, architecture design, implementation and communication of results

Requirements

• ▹Completed university degree in computer science or a related field
• ▹Native-level German, ideally with Swiss German dialect; fluent, negotiation-level English
• ▹7+ years of experience in software development and solution architecture and 3+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning
• ▹Hands-on experience designing and building agentic AI systems, including multi-step reasoning workflows, tool use and orchestration of LLM-based agents in production
• ▹Experience developing and deploying generative AI and LLM solutions, including architectures such as RAG pipelines and vector database integrations
• ▹Very good Python skills and experience building AI applications and backend services with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or similar
• ▹Experience designing scalable AI system architectures, including APIs, inference services, workflow orchestration and integration into enterprise systems
• ▹Experience deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Vertex AI, Azure or comparable environments
• ▹Knowledge of software engineering and DevOps practices, including Docker, Git, CI/CD, testing, monitoring and building reliable production systems

Nice to have

• ▹Experience developing machine learning models, including data analysis, feature engineering and building ML-based applications
• ▹Knowledge of ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow
• ▹Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines, from data preparation through model training and evaluation to deployment
• ▹Experience with Kubernetes or large-scale distributed infrastructure for AI workloads
• ▹Living in the Zurich region
