Anduril's Maritime Division is hiring a Staff Robotics Engineer to lead vehicle perception and planning capability for its autonomous underwater and surface vehicle platforms. The role combines deep technical ownership as a senior individual contributor with team leadership, spanning systems analysis, sensor integration, perception architecture, motion planning and testing.
Responsibilities
- ▹Own customer success through design and delivery of a multi-year software roadmap spanning multiple teams
- ▹Lead teams architecting trusted, safe navigation, collision avoidance and situational awareness systems
- ▹Drive development of sensor suites, perception algorithms and planning algorithms for autonomous vehicles
- ▹Perform hands-on architecture and implementation work across the perception and planning stack
- ▹Apply computer vision, sensor fusion and machine learning techniques to enhance perception and planning
- ▹Test and validate perception and planning algorithms via simulation and real-world experiments
- ▹Collaborate with software, mechanical and systems engineers on integration and testing
- ▹Travel to co-locate with end-users and other teams up to 20% of the time
Requirements
- ▹Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
- ▹Proficient in C++ and/or Python software development
- ▹Familiarity with autonomous vehicle hardware and sensors (radar, sonar, LIDAR, cameras)
- ▹Knowledge of at least one of: computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, machine learning
- ▹Experience in a senior perception or planning role delivering a robotic system
- ▹Capacity to act as technical owner for a system, including stakeholder engagement and roadmap management
- ▹Ability to define and implement validation and verification strategies for perception/planning modules
- ▹Ability to mentor junior team members
- ▹Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with autonomous systems in ground, air, maritime or space domains
- ▹Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo, Unity or Unreal Engine
- ▹Knowledge of safety standards and certification processes for autonomous systems
- ▹Familiarity with systems engineering concepts
