IT Operations Engineer

Skydio, the leading US drone company and world leader in autonomous flight, is hiring an onsite IT Operations Engineer for its San Mateo headquarters. The role owns the full employee technology lifecycle — from onboarding to conference room support — acting as the visible, first-line face of IT in the office.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for walk-up and ticketed IT support across Linux, Windows, and Mac.
  • Provide hands-on hardware diagnostics, system provisioning, and patch management.
  • Own issues from intake through resolution, collaborating with other IT teams as needed.
  • Manage the full employee technology lifecycle: onboarding, transfers, and offboarding.
  • Administer and improve Okta for identity and access management (SSO, MFA, provisioning, automation).
  • Ensure devices are properly enrolled in JumpCloud throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Wipe, reimage, and prepare returned devices for redeployment; coordinate warranty repairs.
  • Manage the full equipment request lifecycle: intake, approval, purchasing, provisioning, tracking.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and monitor stock levels.
  • Proactively maintain and troubleshoot conference room and meeting space technology.
  • Be a visible, responsive IT presence across shared workspaces and meeting rooms.
  • Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 2+ years supporting employees in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Linux, Windows, and Mac environments.
  • Experience with day-to-day Okta administration.
  • Experience with JumpCloud or similar MDM/device management tooling.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting AV and meeting room technology.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate with non-technical staff.

Nice to have

  • FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days (required for certain positions).
