Infrastructure Specialist Mainframe

Responsibilities

• ▹Analyze problems and tech issues and offer solutions
• ▹Test, modify, automate and integrate systems
• ▹Analysis, documentation and diagramming for hand-off
• ▹Long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution
• ▹Get involved early to offer solutions, decide whether something can be done and identify technical and timeline risks up front
• ▹Deal with client expectations and internal challenges
• ▹Work closely with Architects, Technicians and PMs throughout the lifespan of a project

Requirements

• ▹Deep expertise within a specific mainframe technology domain (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data and analytics)
• ▹Enterprise IT application experience
• ▹Hands-on experience as a system programmer in at least two of: z/OS, DB2 z/OS, CICS, RACF, VTAM, storage and data management on the mainframe platform
• ▹In-depth knowledge of z/OS operating systems
• ▹Experience driving engineering solutions and working across teams
• ▹Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• ▹Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce conclusions
• ▹Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
• ▹Strong process improvement experience

Nice to have

• ▹In-depth knowledge of mainframe architecture (10+ years)
• ▹Exceptional judgment and decision-making abilities
• ▹Familiarity with a variety of IT concepts, practices and procedures
• ▹Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
• ▹Logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
• ▹Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
