Huawei's UK R&D centre is looking for a senior technical expert in CPU/NPU performance workload modeling. The role focuses on designing and building methodologies and tools for characterizing and simulating AI workloads, with software/hardware co-optimization for next-generation processors.
Responsibilities
- ▹Investigate cutting-edge, high-performance server CPU/NPU core and SoC architecture design, providing data-driven support for key decisions
- ▹Design and implement tool systems for architectural exploration and performance analysis
- ▹Develop software/hardware co-optimization strategies and lead integration for next-generation processors
- ▹Build a non-intrusive, highly accurate system for characterizing and modeling complex workloads
- ▹Analyze and extract distinctive features of real-world workloads, delivering insights to the in-house chip development team
Requirements
- ▹Extensive industry experience in workload modeling and CPU/NPU architecture development
- ▹Skilled in performance projection and architectural exploration using SoC simulators
- ▹Proficient in developing slicing tools
- ▹Skilled in developing and using performance simulators (GEM5 O3 model, Sniper, etc.)
- ▹Proficient in benchmark analysis and characterization
- ▹Experience in GPGPU performance analysis
- ▹Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of deep learning, computer vision, NLP or computer graphics
- ▹Strong C++ and Python programming skills, with experience in TensorFlow and PyTorch
- ▹Strong grasp of binary analysis and software/hardware co-optimization techniques
- ▹Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
Nice to have
- ▹Experience developing for QEMU and DynamoRIO (or x86 PIN)
- ▹Experience developing and using performance simulators like GEM5, Sniper or others
- ▹Experience with CUDA or OpenCL programming
