Software Engineer, Distributed Systems

Responsibilities

• ▹Sync speed: analyze every part of the syncing process and optimize it so data reaches destinations like Facebook and Snapchat faster
• ▹Streaming syncing: extend the batch-only syncing to real-time syncs and streaming sources such as webhooks and queues
• ▹Scalability and reliability: evaluate current and future scaling bottlenecks and architect for the next order of magnitude of growth
• ▹Personalization API: a low-latency caching layer on top of data warehouses with under 30 ms p90 response times and QPS in the millions, for real-time personalization
• ▹Multi-region and multi-cloud: support the multi-region, multi-cloud backend and launch Hightouch in new regions to meet data residency requirements
• ▹Own and deliver projects from start to finish and work directly with customers on their hardest scaling problems

Requirements

• ▹Experience and comfort with distributed and high-scale systems, or the ability and desire to build this experience quickly
• ▹Passion for solving hard technical problems that generate real value for customers
• ▹High ownership and comfort in a fast-paced startup environment
• ▹Relevant skills and fast learning

Nice to have

• ▹Built syncing engines that process and move terabytes of data per day in a scalable way
• ▹Created event collection or data streaming services that power company-critical systems
• ▹Owned systems that underwent orders of magnitude of growth and helped them scale
