Software Engineer - Sharded Postgres (Neki)

Responsibilities

• ▹Build the best solution for sharded Postgres (Neki)
• ▹Design and build critical systems powering PlanetScale's database platform
• ▹Collaborate with expert engineers on distributed systems challenges
• ▹Work independently with high autonomy on engineering and business problems
• ▹Work directly with customers to translate needs into technical solutions

Requirements

• ▹5+ years of software engineering experience in backend systems, database engines, query planners
• ▹Strong proficiency in Go, plus experience in Python or C++
• ▹Experience developing (not just operating) PostgreSQL, MySQL or other databases
• ▹Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with database internals, query optimization, distributed consensus algorithms
• ▹Open-source contributions, especially database/infrastructure projects
• ▹Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• ▹Knowledge of monitoring, observability and debugging tools
• ▹Previous experience at a high-growth technology company
