Technical Business Analyst

Responsibilities

• ▹Document business and functional requirements, business rules, user stories and epics
• ▹Analyze business processes, functions and procedures across multiple business units
• ▹Understand and document data requirements for banking products and downstream impact
• ▹Create documentation outlining data lineage and a framework for data governance
• ▹Become a subject matter expert for banking product data; assist data consumers and development teams with data research/analysis tasks
• ▹Work with developers to define and document existing application infrastructure and architecture
• ▹Assist with QA/testing to review and refine test plans and create more detailed test cases
• ▹Support responses to audit queries related to business process and IT implementation
• ▹Work with the project team and business to identify and resolve issues arising during projects or day-to-day operations
• ▹Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential risks and devise contingency plans
• ▹Lead all aspects of business requirements from elicitation to business process flow mapping to proposing new functionalities
• ▹Conduct analysis, scope estimation and impact analysis with cross-functional teams
• ▹Create, maintain and groom the product backlog, writing user stories with acceptance criteria
• ▹Drive Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with business stakeholders, system architects and technical analysts
• ▹Identify vertical and horizontal integration touch points, calling out dependencies and risks

Requirements

• ▹At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role within a large banking organization or major consulting firm
• ▹Strong experience working in Agile Scrum and/or Kanban environments
• ▹Proven ability to gather, analyze and document business requirements, functional requirements, business rules, user stories and epics
• ▹Experience supporting or working with REST API-based platforms and translating business needs into technical solutions
• ▹Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• ▹Experience conducting process analysis and documenting end-to-end business and system workflows
• ▹Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills across business and technology teams
• ▹Solid understanding of enterprise technology environments, including applications, platforms, databases and technology delivery processes
• ▹Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Visio, Word and PowerPoint
• ▹Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and scripting languages
• ▹Familiarity with Big Data and data streaming technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HDFS, Kafka and related ecosystem tools
• ▹Working knowledge of Scala, Spark, or PySpark and open-source technologies
• ▹Experience with JIRA or other ALM tools within Agile delivery teams
• ▹Understanding of financial markets, banking and wealth management

Nice to have

• ▹Prior experience in the Financial Services industry
• ▹Exposure to front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS or Angular
• ▹Experience collaborating with stakeholders across different geographies and time zones
