Cell Abuse Testing Engineer Internship, Powertrain Engineering Europe

Tesla's Abuse Test team is looking for a motivated intern to support hands-on abuse testing and validation of next-generation battery cells, building test fixtures and analyzing data.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of cell abuse tests using specialized equipment and data loggers per SOPs
  • Analyze heat and mass transfer behavior to help design and improve test equipment
  • Process raw test data and help prepare high-quality reports for internal teams
  • Participate in destructive teardowns for root-cause analysis
  • Contribute to maintaining procedures, SOPs, standards and lab equipment

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar
  • 3D CAD skills and ability to create wiring/hydraulics diagrams
  • Foundational understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Initial experience with MATLAB/Python for data processing
  • Fluent English; German is a plus
  • Willingness to work with hazardous materials and high-voltage systems under mandated PPE and procedures

Nice to have

  • Prior experience at an OEM or equipment/machine manufacturer
  • Experience with LabVIEW and data acquisition systems
  • Experience with P&IDs
  • Project management exposure
