Tesla's Abuse Test team is looking for a motivated intern to support hands-on abuse testing and validation of next-generation battery cells, building test fixtures and analyzing data.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Support execution of cell abuse tests using specialized equipment and data loggers per SOPs
  • ▹Analyze heat and mass transfer behavior to help design and improve test equipment
  • ▹Process raw test data and help prepare high-quality reports for internal teams
  • ▹Participate in destructive teardowns for root-cause analysis
  • ▹Contribute to maintaining procedures, SOPs, standards and lab equipment

Requirements

  • ▹Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar
  • ▹3D CAD skills and ability to create wiring/hydraulics diagrams
  • ▹Foundational understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • ▹Initial experience with MATLAB/Python for data processing
  • ▹Fluent English; German is a plus
  • ▹Willingness to work with hazardous materials and high-voltage systems under mandated PPE and procedures

Nice to have

  • ▹Prior experience at an OEM or equipment/machine manufacturer
  • ▹Experience with LabVIEW and data acquisition systems
  • ▹Experience with P&IDs
  • ▹Project management exposure
