Materials Engineer, Thermoplastics/Composites (Fixed-Term)

Responsibilities

• ▹Develop and prototype new thermoplastic and composite materials and processing strategies
• ▹Provide direction to design engineers on optimal materials and process selection
• ▹Generate, interpret and summarize materials test data (FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, rheometry, mechanical testing)
• ▹Develop or edit specifications and test procedures for procurement and manufacturing quality standards
• ▹Support stakeholders in resolving technical issues

Requirements

• ▹Education in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or related field
• ▹2+ years of experience as a materials engineer or related role
• ▹Understanding of process-structure-property relationships in polymers (injection molding, compression molding, extrusion, thermoforming)
• ▹Hands-on experience in materials characterization and testing
• ▹Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
• ▹Strong communication skills with peers and suppliers

Nice to have

• ▹Familiarity with material modeling/simulation tools (Moldflow, Sigmasoft, LS-Dyna, ANSYS)
• ▹Experience with thermoplastics processing tools (injection molding, thermoforming)
