Materials Engineer, Thermoplastics/Composites (Fixed-Term)

Tesla Engineering Germany in Berlin is hiring a Materials Engineer on a 1-year fixed-term contract to support design, validation and implementation of new thermoplastic and composite materials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prototype new thermoplastic and composite materials and processing strategies
  • Provide direction to design engineers on optimal materials and process selection
  • Generate, interpret and summarize materials test data (FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, rheometry, mechanical testing)
  • Develop or edit specifications and test procedures for procurement and manufacturing quality standards
  • Support stakeholders in resolving technical issues

Requirements

  • Education in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience as a materials engineer or related role
  • Understanding of process-structure-property relationships in polymers (injection molding, compression molding, extrusion, thermoforming)
  • Hands-on experience in materials characterization and testing
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
  • Strong communication skills with peers and suppliers

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with material modeling/simulation tools (Moldflow, Sigmasoft, LS-Dyna, ANSYS)
  • Experience with thermoplastics processing tools (injection molding, thermoforming)
