Senior Software Engineer (Golang - Pricing Domain)

SumUp is expanding its Sofia-based Payments Platform with a new dedicated Pricing team and is looking for Software Engineers (Mid & Senior) to build core services from the ground up. The Pricing team builds and owns the services that determine how SumUp's products and transactions are priced worldwide, aiming for precision, flexibility and transparency at the scale of millions of transactions. As a (Senior) Software Engineer you will help design, build and maintain a scalable and compliant pricing platform, participate in architectural discussions and guide technical decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services for the pricing systems
  • Develop back-office tools for pricing management
  • Write high-quality, maintainable and scalable code meeting coding standards and best practices
  • Provide comprehensive documentation and good automated test coverage, and improve code quality
  • Collaborate with software, QA and DevOps engineers for smooth deployment, CI and production support
  • Actively participate in code reviews
  • Support technical discussions during requirements analysis and scope definition
  • Participate in team retrospectives and document lessons learned

Requirements

  • Several years of programming experience, including in Golang
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with Docker, AWS, Kubernetes (user, not admin experience)
  • A DevOps mindset
  • Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases (working with Postgres and Kafka)
  • Understanding of fundamental system architecture, software design principles, data modeling and API design
  • Open to feedback, collaborative approach and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Pride in engineering and a keen sense of ownership
