C++ Senior Software Engineer - Linux Kernel

Responsibilities

• ▹Track upstream Linux kernel developments and identify features of interest to Arista
• ▹Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests in C, C++ and Python; review and write specifications
• ▹Build automated tests and test infrastructure
• ▹Qualify new kernel-dependent hardware such as CPUs and NICs with hardware engineers and vendors
• ▹Contribute features back to the mainline kernel with the community
• ▹Integrate new kernel versions into EOS
• ▹Provide technical leadership across features, projects and tools
• ▹Analyze and fix customer problems with support and system test engineers
• ▹Mentor new and junior engineers

Requirements

• ▹BSc, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of experience
• ▹Expert C programming
• ▹Hands-on experience troubleshooting and developing features in the Linux kernel
• ▹Familiarity with kernel architecture and the upstream patching process
• ▹Understanding of IP networking architecture
• ▹Strong troubleshooting and software design skills
• ▹Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU architectures

Nice to have

• ▹Knowledge of C++ and Python
