Software Engineer – UAV / Real-Time Systems

Software Engineer • Hybrid • Full-time • Germany Darmstadt, Germany

THYRA, a VC-backed deep-tech counter-UAS startup, is looking for a software engineer to work on the core systems of its flight platforms. The job is based in Darmstadt with hybrid work possible.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • ▹Develop robust software in C++ and Python for real UAV systems
  • ▹Work on flight dynamics and control systems
  • ▹Develop and improve state estimation and sensor fusion algorithms
  • ▹Integrate software into real hardware systems and support flight tests
  • ▹Work with robotics middleware and distributed systems (ROS 2 is a big plus)
  • ▹Build and use real-time simulation environments for development and validation
  • ▹Test your systems directly together with hardware in the field
  • ▹Work closely with other engineers on interceptor and launch systems

Requirements

  • ▹Solid fundamentals in C++ and Python
  • ▹Understanding of robust, near-real-time systems
  • ▹First experience or strong interest in flight dynamics and control systems
  • ▹Knowledge of state estimation / sensor fusion
  • ▹Experience with robotics software, ideally ROS 2 (a plus, not a must)
  • ▹Interest in UAV, robotics or comparable systems
  • ▹Structured, clean way of working and technical ambition
  • ▹Teamwork and enjoyment of iterative, fast development

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience with simulations and hardware integration
