Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

• ▹Own software delivery across products and teams: realistic roadmaps, early visibility of dependencies, reliable commitments
• ▹Steer engineering capacity with Product & Growth along company and product priorities
• ▹Lead and develop Engineering Leads and key technical people, with clear roles and expectations
• ▹Develop organisation, career paths, succession planning, hiring and onboarding with P&O and the CPTO
• ▹Establish binding standards for code quality, reviews, testing, documentation and release readiness
• ▹Transparently assess and prioritise technical improvement needs
• ▹Make AI-assisted software development a fixed part of the engineering system (standards, training, safe tool use, reusable best practices)
• ▹Work with IT Operations, Cyber Security, Customer Success and Partner Management; resolve trade-offs and align release, rollback and incident processes
• ▹Anchor secure software development and security-by-design in the development lifecycle

Requirements

• ▹Several years of experience leading software development organisations, ideally in a SaaS, platform or e-commerce environment
• ▹Experience leading multiple engineering teams or Engineering Leads
• ▹Understanding of how to evolve technical organisations in a structured way and distribute responsibility sensibly
