Staff Software Engineer (Cloud Provider Team)

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead the design and development of scalable, backend APIs and services that integrate with cloud services, with a focus on IBM Cloud
• ▹Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, and Partner teams to design intuitive and maintainable interfaces
• ▹Guide the evolution of Sysdig's managed service capabilities in cloud environments, specifically IBM Cloud
• ▹Influence long-term architecture and technical direction for Sysdig's integrations with IBM Cloud (IAM, authn/authz, service-to-service patterns, resiliency)
• ▹Champion quality, simplicity, and clarity in system design, API design, and data modeling
• ▹Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship, and raising engineering standards

Requirements

• ▹Experience designing and building distributed backend systems and APIs (data-heavy or high-throughput systems are a plus)
• ▹Experience with cloud fundamentals (compute, networking, identity, security), with the ability to ramp quickly on IBM Cloud specifics
• ▹Experience with IAM and access patterns (OAuth/OIDC, JWT, RBAC/policy-based access); IBM Cloud IAM experience is a plus
• ▹Good grasp of SaaS operations and Kubernetes (deployments, scaling, observability and incident response mindset)
• ▹Development experience in Java, Go, or similar languages
• ▹Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL data stores (e.g., Postgres plus other database systems)

Nice to have

• ▹Understanding of API best practices: versioning, backward compatibility, consistency, and access control
• ▹Interest in Cloud Security (CSPM/CDR/CIEM)
• ▹Proficiency with standard engineering tools (CI/CD pipelines, version control, containerization)
