LabIT Engineer

LabIT developer/engineer role in an Ericsson team in Budapest supporting and evolving internal lab environments and infrastructure platforms. The focus is on Linux-based systems, ensuring stable, scalable and automated environments for development and testing activities, while contributing to system design, integration and continuous improvement. The role also covers general Ericsson developer responsibilities from requirement analysis to product documentation and PLM support.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain Linux-based lab environments supporting development and testing activities
  • Manage and support hardware and software lifecycle (LCM), including upgrades, replacements and decommissioning
  • Work with physical lab infrastructure, including servers, storage and connectivity components
  • Contribute to system integration, verification and troubleshooting of infrastructure components
  • Support cloud and virtualization environments (e.g. OpenStack, Kubernetes)
  • Work with network configurations and connectivity aspects within lab setups
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and implement solutions
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements in stability, scalability and automation
  • Participate in development activities such as requirement analysis, system, architecture, hardware and software design
  • Collaborate in integration, verification and simulation processes
  • Contribute to designing tools and support for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and to creating product documentation

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Linux system administration (core requirement)
  • Basic understanding of hardware components (servers, storage, rack environments)
  • Experience with lifecycle management (LCM) of hardware and software
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
  • Experience or exposure to cloud / virtualization platforms: OpenStack, Kubernetes, or one of Google GCP, AWS Public Cloud, Azure Public Cloud
  • Basic knowledge of automation and scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems across hardware and software layers
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and automation
  • Ability to work in an international, cross-functional environment
  • Skills listed for the developer part: CEE10 Design DGS, SDI3 Upgrade, SDI3 Solution Design, SDI3 Integration, GDCE, knowledge sharing and collaboration, coaching and mentoring, innovation and creativity, Google GCP, AWS Public Cloud, Azure Public Cloud, AWS Outpost

Nice to have

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines or infrastructure as code
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
  • Experience in lab or test environments in telecom or large-scale infrastructure
