Responsibilities

• ▹Define and operate against SLOs/SLIs with product and engineering partners, using error budgets as real inputs to prioritization
• ▹Build the observability layer: metrics, logs, traces, and alerting for early, precisely attributed issue detection
• ▹Lead incident response as incident commander, drive blameless postmortems into concrete engineering work
• ▹Reduce toil through engineering: automation, self-healing behavior, better defaults and tooling
• ▹Stress-test designs for partial failure, dependency degradation, and traffic spikes; run capacity and performance work proactively
• ▹Improve release safety through progressive delivery, feature flags, canaries, rollbacks, and tested migrations

Requirements

• ▹Track record owning services in production, responsible for behavior under real load and failure, not just shipping them
• ▹Experience defining and operating against SLOs/SLIs, using error budgets to influence decisions
• ▹Experience leading incident response and writing postmortems that produced durable improvements
• ▹Hands-on experience with observability tooling (metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing)
• ▹Deep system design experience: distributed services, async messaging, storage trade-offs, API design, idempotency, consistency
• ▹Comfort in modern cloud environments (AWS/GCP), containerized workloads, and CI/CD pipelines
