Engineering Manager (Provider)

Backend Developer • Remote • Vollzeit • 📍 New York City

We are hiring for two Engineering Manager roles within the Provider group: the CHART team (AI-powered clinical documentation) and the Group Practices team (tools for group-practice providers), both building the platform that serves Headway's therapists.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to build systems that enable rapid experimentation and long-term scale
  • Drive alignment across the team on process, prioritization, and product outcomes
  • Develop and grow the team through weekly 1-1s, mentorship, and feedback
  • Work with and help develop aspiring engineering leaders within the team
  • Contribute to the broader company strategy and product roadmap
  • Lead the team into the AI era, shaping how and where AI accelerates engineering work responsibly in a healthcare context

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • Energized by experimentation and growth, balancing short-term learning with long-term scale
  • Strong product mindset and proven cross-functional relationship building
  • Strong technical foundation to ensure the team makes appropriate technical decisions
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver business outcomes
  • Track record of working well across teams and functions
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field

Nice to have

  • Prior experience with Python, React, and AWS infrastructure
  • Experience in health tech, building user-facing products
  • Experience building or managing teams that ship AI-powered product features, particularly in high-trust domains like clinical or financial systems

  • Base pay $222,800–$278,500, depending on position and level, plus equity grant eligibility
