Forward Deployed Engineer, Infrastructure Specialist (Public Sector)

Forward Deployed Engineer role focused on infrastructure, leading end-to-end private cloud/on-premises deployments of North for Canadian public sector customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end deployment of North in private cloud and on-premises environments, including planning, configuration, testing and rollout
  • Partner with enterprise IT teams to assess infrastructure, security requirements and data management practices
  • Experiment at high velocity and quality to engage customers and deliver solutions that exceed expectations
  • Design and implement deployment strategies tailored to client needs, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve deployment-related technical issues, minimizing downtime

Requirements

  • Experience working directly with customers, and enjoyment of it
  • Experience deploying enterprise software in private/hybrid cloud environments
  • Proven experience administering production Kubernetes clusters, with expertise in Helm
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and tools like Git for version control
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP), networking and virtualization
  • Ability to execute in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and objectives
  • Active Top Secret security clearance strongly preferred, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one
  • Based in Ottawa, with an estimated 20-40% travel

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Canadian public sector security and compliance requirements (e.g., data sovereignty, access controls)
