Software Engineer, Agent - Healthcare

Responsibilities

• ▹Design and ship empathetic, production-grade AI agents for healthcare: helping people understand coverage, find providers, schedule appointments, and navigate billing, all under strict HIPAA compliance
• ▹Own the full Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC) serving healthcare payers, providers, and platforms
• ▹Partner with healthcare leaders to reduce high call volumes and administrative burden
• ▹Navigate healthcare complexity: EHR and patient-access integrations, payer/provider operations, interoperability standards, benefits/eligibility, claims/billing, scheduling
• ▹Shape the platform's future based on feedback from healthcare customers
• ▹Example projects: insurance agents answering detailed coverage questions (e.g. co-pay amounts), voice/chat agents helping members find in-network specialists, scheduling agents for multi-site clinics, conversational intake agents replacing paper forms, billing/payment agents with HIPAA-compliant PHI safeguards

Requirements

• ▹Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems
• ▹Strong technical problem-solving skills in fast-changing, ambiguous environments
• ▹A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency
• ▹Comfort working directly with customers
• ▹Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• ▹Genuine interest in healthcare and improving the patient/member experience

Nice to have

• ▹Experience in healthcare technology, health IT, or working with healthcare organizations
• ▹Familiarity with major EHR ecosystems (Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, athenahealth), X12 EDI transactions, scheduling/patient-access platforms
• ▹Understanding of healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, PHI handling)
• ▹Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production
• ▹Founder or founding engineer experience
• ▹Familiarity with AI agent tooling (eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering)
• ▹Experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go
• ▹Prior customer-facing or technical project leadership roles
