Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead and develop the FDE team: hire, coach, set expectations, run 1:1s and feedback cycles
• ▹Own capacity planning and staffing across parallel strategic projects and anticipate delivery bottlenecks early
• ▹Drive engineering delivery across deployments: milestones, dependencies, risk management, escalation paths, stakeholder alignment
• ▹Establish lightweight time tracking and delivery visibility into effort, progress and capacity
• ▹Provide technical leadership and escalation support: guide architecture and implementation choices, review designs and code, unblock high-severity production issues
• ▹Build reusable patterns, playbooks and standards for field engineering
• ▹Translate recurring customer needs into productization proposals with Product and Core Engineering
• ▹Collaborate with customer architecture, security and platform teams

Requirements

• ▹8+ years in software engineering, systems integration, DevOps or data engineering roles with meaningful production responsibility
• ▹Proven ability to lead and develop engineers (management, team lead, coaching, hiring)
• ▹Track record delivering complex technical projects in large enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders
• ▹Strong backend, API, cloud platform, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code and database skills
• ▹Able to personally own smaller technical workstreams end-to-end and jump into debugging and implementation
• ▹Strong planning, prioritization, capacity thinking and risk management without unnecessary process overhead
• ▹Confident, clear written and verbal communication with customer engineering teams and senior technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• ▹Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-powered systems (agent workflows, orchestration, evaluation, vector DBs, guardrails), ideally in forward-deployed or solutions engineering environments
