z/OS Mainframe Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Manage and develop z/OS 2.5 / 3.1 in a Parallel Sysplex on IBM z15/z16 with multiple LPARs and Coupling Facility
• ▹Install, upgrade and maintain via SMP/E (PTFs, APARs, RSU); draw up fallback and rollback plans within change management
• ▹Tune WLM, RMF, SMF and GRS to meet transaction SLAs; manage DFSMS, DFSMShsm, VSAM and catalog structures
• ▹Low-level troubleshooting: dump analysis with IPCS, traces via GTF/CTRACE, performance investigation with RMF and Omegamon
• ▹Write and optimise JCL and REXX; automate with System Automation, Zowe and (in time) Ansible for z/OS
• ▹Security and compliance: RACF policies, pervasive encryption, AT-TLS, ICSF and key management; sparring with application teams (CICS, DB2, MQ, IMS)
• ▹Take part in a 24/7 standby rota (about 1 week in 6), with clear compensation
