Responsibilities

• ▹Develop data scientists, set clear expectations, provide hands-on mentorship, remove blockers
• ▹Guide multiple data science projects (statistical modeling, experiment design, classifiers) across search, instant answers, AI and revenue optimization
• ▹Collaborate cross-functionally to validate direction through data
• ▹Consult on experiments to build trust in organizational tactics and strategy
• ▹Become an expert in core metrics like searches, installs, and revenue
• ▹Drive improvement of the data pipeline

Requirements

• ▹10+ years of experience in data science or ML engineering, including 4+ years leading teams
• ▹Track record of setting multi-team roadmaps and adapting swiftly as priorities shift
• ▹Experience driving organizational culture toward data-driven decision-making
• ▹Ability to translate technical tradeoffs and risks clearly for executives
• ▹Experience coaching experienced data scientists with direct, actionable feedback
• ▹Expert-level deployment and iteration of ML and NLP solutions in production
• ▹Production-grade coding in Python or a comparable high-level language
• ▹Advanced SQL and query optimization, familiarity with columnar databases (BigQuery, Clickhouse, Redshift, Druid)
• ▹Strong LLM/AI experience: fine-tuning, LLM-as-judge evaluation, AI-assisted development
• ▹Ability to design, implement and analyze experiments on sparse or privacy-constrained data

Nice to have

• ▹Experience at a consumer-facing tech company where data/analytics is core to product strategy
