Staff Engineer - Endpoint security

Security Engineer • On-site • Full-time • 📍 Paris

Staff Engineer role on GitGuardian's Endpoint team, which builds the agent running on developers' machines to detect secrets and sensitive configurations before they leak; the product already has 100+ daily active users and is entering its scale phase.

Responsibilities

  • Drives architectural decisions — defines how the agent and platform scale, shaping the team's technical choices
  • Guides and grows engineers — mentors, challenges, and takes part in code reviews as the team's technical reference
  • Contributes directly to the code on the most complex and foundational topics
  • Works closely with Product to frame product ambitions, navigate technical trade-offs, and co-build the roadmap

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading technical initiatives involving multiple teams in organizations of at least 100 people
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Infrastructure teams
  • Hands-on experience mentoring engineers and helping teams grow their technical capabilities
  • Thrives in fast-paced startup environments
  • Expert in Python, with strong experience in Django and large monolithic codebases
  • Significant experience with Rust
  • Experience with embedded software / on-device applications (not web applications)
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience in security-focused environments with strong compliance requirements
  • Familiar with standards such as SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO certifications
  • Fluent in English in an international professional environment
