Software Engineer (Backend)

Responsibilities

• ▹Craft reliable, scalable systems that power Coverflex's compensation platform
• ▹Design APIs, optimize databases, and make architectural decisions with direct impact on the platform
• ▹Work as a product engineer, collaborating with product managers and designers from discovery through delivery
• ▹Ship features end-to-end that make complex compensation simple, compliant, and delightful
• ▹Build reliable, scalable infrastructure with proper monitoring and graceful degradation
• ▹Improve system quality and performance through reduced latency, better error handling, and enhanced data consistency
• ▹Establish solid foundations: testing coverage, observability, documentation, and sustainable patterns
• ▹Lead features end-to-end with minimal oversight, owning outcomes rather than just outputs
• ▹Elevate the team through constructive code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pairing
• ▹Collaborate with product during discovery, challenging assumptions and identifying opportunities

Requirements

• ▹Mid to senior backend engineering experience
• ▹Experience with or strong affinity for Elixir, Phoenix, and Phoenix LiveView
• ▹Knowledge of PostgreSQL
• ▹Experience with AWS and Kubernetes
• ▹English as main working language; Portuguese, Spanish, or Italian a plus
