Engineering Manager – APIs & Performance (Full Remote, France)

Responsibilities

• ▹Take responsibility for the APIs & Performance team (5 backend developers plus management of 6 contractors), with a real mandate to structure its operations: backlog, grooming, scrum, prioritisation
• ▹Push the team to the next level on AI: automating workflows, industrialising test generation, leveraging AI for monitoring and anomaly detection
• ▹Bring a production mindset drawn from experience in large-scale migration or modernisation, understanding that a feature cannot simply be cut overnight
• ▹Build a culture where information naturally flows upward and everyone feels ownership of progress
• ▹Collaborate with the VP Core Software on day-to-day operations, aligned with the long-term vision for the area: execution, maintainability, scalability, monitoring

Requirements

• ▹Solid technical background with the ability to grasp backend, API, performance and migration issues
• ▹6+ years of management experience, with a genuine track record of transformation rather than managing the status quo
• ▹Concrete, first-hand experience with a large-scale migration or modernisation project (in any role: developer, architect, manager)
• ▹Strong AI culture, with real experience introducing an AI-driven dynamic in a team of senior developers
• ▹Fluent French and English

Nice to have

• ▹Knowledge of distributed architecture and large-scale microservices
• ▹Ability to translate product priorities into concrete technical decisions, and vice versa
• ▹Experience with high-load APIs or scalability challenges
