Senior AI Engineer

Design and scale robust, high-impact AI systems for Drata's compliance automation platform, using agentic AI, LLMs, and intelligent reasoning systems, including automating questionnaire responses.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement LLM-powered systems for multi-step reasoning, evidence grounding, and decision support in high-trust domains
  • Develop agentic workflows combining retrieval, tool use, structured reasoning, and human oversight
  • Create interactive AI experiences for engaging with complex compliance and risk data
  • Build AI systems that reason over structured and unstructured data for regulatory interpretation
  • Architect and deploy scalable LLM + retrieval + agent systems in production
  • Embed human-in-the-loop workflows, confidence thresholds, and safety guardrails
  • Partner with platform, security, and product teams to operationalize AI safely

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including 2+ years specifically in ML/AI engineering
  • Proficiency in Python (TypeScript a plus for production AI integrations)
  • Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Chroma, FAISS) and RAG system design
  • Proven experience building and shipping LLM-based applications in production: embeddings, RAG, agent frameworks, prompt engineering, evaluation
  • Track record of taking AI systems from concept to production
  • Ability to decompose complex tasks into agentic workflows
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience with product, compliance, security, and engineering teams

Nice to have

  • Experience in compliance, security, risk, or audit domains
  • Familiarity with Snowflake-based analytics, knowledge graphs, or enterprise data platforms
  • Experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders such as compliance or GRC teams
