Multiplayer Game Designer

BlackMill Games is hiring a Multiplayer Game Designer to work on its WW1-themed multiplayer first-person shooter series, fully remote and full-time.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Review game balance using player input and analytics data, and engage with the community on game design
  • Work with the creative director, producer, developers and artists to oversee implementation of new features and systems from ideation to shipment
  • Assist developers prototyping new features and gameplay with design guidance, briefs, system outlines and technical specifications
  • Write concise design documents, including one-pager briefs and system outlines
  • Own the UX design of multiplayer and online features such as matchmaking, communication and HUDs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience, having worked on at least one commercial multiplayer title
  • Experience with Unity on a multiplayer title, including telemetry
  • Strong knowledge of multiplayer game balancing, meta games, match pacing and player engagement
  • Ability to use 2D tools to create clear concepts and designs
  • Located in Europe
  • Experience working in a remote environment
  • Available 32-40 hours per week
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, Interactive Media or a related field preferred; relevant coursework, certifications or professional experience also considered

  • Affinity for World War 1 history
  • Affinity for competitive FPS games
  • Knowledge of historical multiplayer first-person shooters, especially realistic hardcore shooters
