Senior Specialist - Industry 4.0 & Manufacturing Data

Technical authority and strategic advisor role for digital manufacturing initiatives, leading client relationships at an Industry 4.0 specialist consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted senior advisor to clients on Industry 4.0, manufacturing data, and digital transformation
  • Lead digital transformation strategy and roadmap development (manufacturing data platforms and historians, Unified Namespace, OT/IT integration, cloud/hybrid data strategies)
  • Guide technology selection and architecture across data integration/streaming/contextualisation platforms, MES/LIMS/QMS/CMMS, control systems, advanced analytics/AI-ML, and digital twin use cases
  • Embed data, validation, and governance strategies into project designs with internal engineering teams and client stakeholders
  • Lead small, multidisciplinary teams from concept through design, validation, and handover

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or related field plus 6+ years of relevant experience, or significant professional experience without a degree
  • Deep experience across Industry 4.0 domains: control systems, automation, OT environments, manufacturing data historians/platforms, IT/OT integration, networking and cybersecurity, cloud/hybrid infrastructure, vertical/horizontal system integration (MES–ERP–enterprise)
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, data governance models
  • Knowledge of ISA-88 and ISA-95 standards
  • Understanding of FAIR data principles and data integrity (ALCOA+) requirements
  • Experience with GAMP 5 frameworks and Computer Systems Validation (CSV) in regulated manufacturing environments

Nice to have

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail
  • Understanding of ontologies and semantic models
  • Experience with data visualisation/analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Grafana)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, R, or similar
  • Exposure to PAT, real-time release, predictive analytics, or closed-loop control use cases
