Platform Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Architect, optimize, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and cloud data warehouses
• ▹Write clean transformation logic using tools like dbt and manage robust workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow), taking ownership of system monitoring, performance tuning, and incident resolution
• ▹Maintain and evolve AWS-based messaging infrastructure (queues, schemas, event streams) to ensure reliable, high-throughput, low-latency data ingestion
• ▹Design secure, performant, and well-documented data entry/consumption points (such as S3 interfaces)
• ▹Support scalable deployment using Terraform while maintaining least-privilege AWS IAM access, data lineage, data contracts, and cataloging
• ▹Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and analysts to turn complex business needs into reusable, self-serve platform solutions
• ▹Participate in code reviews, document data architectures and workflows, and help elevate engineering best practices

Requirements

• ▹Proficiency in SQL and Python
• ▹Proven experience as a data or platform engineer, or in a comparable role
• ▹Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, IAM, and related services)
• ▹Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• ▹Experience with cloud-based data warehousing
• ▹Familiarity with transformation tooling such as dbt
• ▹Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow or equivalent)
• ▹Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)
• ▹Understanding of data modelling and ETL/ELT patterns
• ▹Familiarity with messaging systems and event-driven architectures
• ▹Able to collaborate effectively within a small team and with cross-functional stakeholders
• ▹Comfortable working with some autonomy while escalating decisions where appropriate
