Canonical is looking for a software engineer to work on easy-to-deploy, secure edge AI solutions (Inference Snaps), designing silicon-optimized application packages from embedded devices to powerful gateways. The role covers Linux-based AI/ML inference solutions and their secure deployment.

Responsibilities

▹Develop and maintain open-source AI/ML inference application packages
▹Debug issues and write high-quality fixes
▹Review code from upstream and internal engineers
▹Experiment with Ubuntu Core to showcase edge AI solutions
▹Securely deploy AI inference platforms on Linux

Requirements

▹At least 3 years of professional software development experience in Go or C++
▹Experience developing applications for Linux
▹Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or STEM

Nice to have

▹Knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
▹Experience with Snap, Debian or RPM packaging
▹Bash scripting
▹CI/CD knowledge (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
▹Familiarity with local AI/ML inference frameworks
▹Knowledge of hardware accelerators (GPU, NPU)
