Canonical is hiring Rust Engineering Leads of all seniority levels to drive Rust adoption across Ubuntu and its other open source offerings, from firmware and kernel up through the desktop.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design and implement well-tested, documented software in Rust
- ▹Advocate for Rust adoption in internal and upstream projects
- ▹Identify projects and codebases suited for Rust adoption
- ▹Debug and fix issues
- ▹Participate in code and architectural reviews
Requirements
- ▹Exceptional academic track record
- ▹Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or equivalent path
- ▹Experience building and operating distributed systems (senior roles)
- ▹Extensive personal experience with Linux
Nice to have
- ▹Background in C/C++
- ▹Experience with React or Flutter front-end
Soft skills
Strong motivation and high engineering standardsTechnical advocacy
